BREAK SIZE

Tea, Teamoods Comments Off

No breaks should be smaller than 6 chests. This is because breaks smaller than 5 chests cannot be printed in the main catalogue and 1 chest extra is a safeguard against damages in transit.

WHY YOU SHOULD DRINK TEA

Teamoods Comments Off

May be the order of the day but with it comes the stress of forever keeping the body going. Diets are the first casualty and the clock takes its toll. Tea should be drunk because it’s healthy. As simple as that. Antioxidants or free radical scavengers from five or six cups of tea a day will go a long way in keeping your cholesterol level down, lessen chances of a heart or cancer attack. It’s good for your eyes, teeth and plenty else. In the earliest treatise on tea called Cha Chung Chinese scholar Lu Yu says, “When feeling hot, thirsty, depressed, suffering from headache, eye ache, fatigue of the four limbs or pains in the joints, one should only drink four or five times a day. Tea tempers the spirit, harmonises the mind, dispels lassitude, relieves fatigue, awakens thought, prevents drowsiness and refreshes the body and mind.” The pre-Confucian scholars were united in extolling the virtues of tea as a health drink over wine and water.  Read the rest of this entry »

CHINA- BIRTHPALCE OF TEA

Tea, Teamoods Comments Off

Ever since its lucky “discovery” by Emperor Chen Nung in 2737 B.C. ( a leaf from a wild tea plan reportedly fell into  his bowl of hot water), first three thousand years in the history of tea were a purely and intensely Chinese affair. In the Chinese Art of Tea, John Blofeld noted that every layer of Chinese society played a part in this history, including “emperors and peasants, Taoist recluses, Buddhist monks, wandering physicians, mandarins (the scholar officials of old China), lovely ladies, craftsmen, potters, poet, singers, painters, architects, landscape, gardeners, nomadic tribesmen who bartered horses for bricks of tea, and statesmen who used tea to buy off would be invades…..”Even though China, unlike Japan, never transformed the drinking of tea into a sacred ceremony, it never the less initiated the time honored ritual of offering a bowl of tea to a guest as a sign of welcome. This tradition was reportedly begun by a disciple of Lao Tse named Kuanyin who one day offered the “old philosopher” a cup of the golden elixir. Thus by 500 B.C., tea had become what it remains today in many countries, especially in

Asia – a marl of friendship and hospitality. Once associated with Taoist philosophy and therefore intimately linked to the rise of Zen Buddhism, tea was also thought to provide the energy required for meditation.

Are All Teas Equally Good for the Body?

Tea Comments Off

This is a question researches are still squabbling over. Does green tea have more antioxidants than black tea? Should I drink instant tea or loose leaf tea for better health benefits? Is hot tea better than iced tea? And here’s what it comes down to: . Higher quality teas may have more catechin antioxidants than lower quality teas.. White tea has more antioxidants than any other tea.. Green tea has more catechin antioxidants than black tea since black tea goes through more processing.. Unfermented ratios tea has more polyphenol antioxidants than fermented ratios.. Freshly brewed teas have more polyphenol antioxidants than instant or bottled teas.. More researches seem o agree that brewed (cold or hot) or caffeinated tea has more antioxidants than instant teas.

TEA AND HEALTH

Health Muse Comments Off

“Tea began as a medicine and grew into a beverage.”
–The Book of Tea, by Tenshin Okakura, 1862 – 1913
Tea has been considered a healthful beverage throughout history, and modern research provides strong evidence that its reputation is warranted. Research results indicate that tea may offer a variety of benefits:• Enhanced immune function
• Reduced risk of certain cancers
• Lower LDL (“bad”) cholesterol levels
• Higher HDL (“good”) cholesterol levels
• Lower blood pressure
• Thinner, less clot-prone blood
• Reduced risk of stroke
• Enhanced digestion
• Prevention of dental cavities and gingivitis
Many of these health benefits stem from the high levels of powerfully antioxidant polyphenol compounds in tea, which belong to the same family of healthful antioxidants found in red wine and dark chocolate (i.e., flavon-3-ol polyphenols).Polyphenol antioxidants neutralize cell-damaging free radicals, which also turn on cancer-promoting genes and help cause LDL cholesterol to form artery-clogging plaque.White and green teas are rich in catechin-class polyphenols, which possess 20 to 30 times the antioxidant potency of vitamins C and E. The longer fermentation that black teas undergo converts 70 to 90 percent of their catechin-class polyphenols to related antioxidants called the flavins, which are generally weaker antioxidants, but produce even stronger beneficial effects in certain contexts (e.g., anti-HIV activity).White tea contains the highest levels of antioxidants, followed by green tea and black tea. Accordingly, you can enjoy a quiet cup of any type and know that you are drinking to your own health.
