Namring Tea Estate
May 3Amidst the mystic mountains of the Himalayas there exists a few tea estates, which can be called flag bearers oftop quality world famous Darjeeling teas and India’s pride “Namring (Upper)”, tea drinkers delight all over the globe, consists of 440 hectares of tes plantation, spreading over a gross area of over 50sq.km. Bushes grown from seeds originally brought out from China mainland by British planters, way back in 1855, are still in existance in the garden.Most rare and desirable “Muscatel”flavour is typical of “Namring (Upper)” teas, during the second flush period which are smartlyabsorbed by German and Japaneseimporters.
Tea growing area of “Namring (Upper)” stretch between altitudes of 1000 and 2500 meters ans the higher altitude area of”Poomong” division of the estate is under conversion to Bio Organic Production. With 2000 workers including plucker girls and a total production of over 10,000 people and well equiped five storied factory, “Namring (Upper)” thanks all its patrons worldwide and assures tthem with production of best quality Darjeeling Tea for years to come.
It is interesting to note that “TIGER HILL”, the world famous peak in Darjeeling district, from where tourists can observe first “Sunrise”, is situated very close to our “Poomong Division”of Namring tea Estate.
The Estate employs above 2,000 workers 80 percent of which are female . The workers’ essential social requirement i.e. free housing, medical attention, pre and post natal compensation, education of children and foodstuff at concessional rates, sports and games etc. etc. are all taken care of by the Management of the garden. Estate runs a 20 bed hospitalalong with Operation Theatre, Isolation Block and Maternity Block. There are half adozen of primary and secondary school and one higher secondary school run with Government aid and 20 privately run Kindergarden stretched in different area where workers are housed.   Â
