A famous coffee outlet in India has a very interesting-and potentially pregnant-tagline: a lot can happen over a cup of coffee. Some of my friends went over to the swanky joint in the hope that the cup of coffee will trigger something, may be, it will help break the ice with the girl who has not even looked their way, let alone say hello to them. One flamboyant but reckless guy who risked arguing with his girlfriend sat for hours over his cup hoping that the sulking beauty would return and hold his hand. Why did I quarrel with her in the first place, he cursed himself (but not the coffee that implicitly lured him into the outlet and could be held culpable for making misleading promises).
Jokes apart, people-especially young people always want something to happen (particularly in a relationship) and therefore would lap up anything that covertly or overtly promise them with some action. Later when a relationship is made or marred, they forget the original hero or villain. The beverage just becomes a quiet catalyst that helps them either cruise along in relationship or goes their ways in case they happen to part.
In either case, what binds the two is a lingering taste of coffee in their mouths, besides overflowing love in their respective hearts (or taste of bitterness in case of separation).
However, having sung a paean for the coffee, I would like to digress a bit and zero in on my favourite drink:: tea. You may call me biased, but I have always maintained that coffee is an over-hyped beverage, apparently because since 19th century it was linked with all activities considered cerebral.? Be that as it may, my point is that if a lot can happen over a cup of coffee, is there anything that cannot happen over a cup of tea?
My firm and unequivocal answer is: NO
Over a period of time people have realized the health benefits associated with consumption of tea and are therefore switching over to it. It is equally stimulating, invigorating and ?happening?.
Do you recall the famous dialogue in Invictus, the famous biopic on Nelson Mandela (brilliantly directed by Clint Eastwood). Inviting Matt Damon over a cup of tea, Morgan Freeman says, ?The English have given us a lot of great things, but afternoon tea was one of the greatest..?. Just think of it, Nelson Mandela is saying that tea, afternoon tea to be precise, is the greatest thing that can happen to anyone.
Don?t you feel like nodding your head in affirmative?
Have a cup of tea and say YES
