May the world be a better place for 2010 and for Tea!!! Especially Darjeeling Tea. The serene hills are facing a tremendous phase as hardliners are battling it out for Gorkhaland. Now we are not in the business of politics but we are concerned about the lovely land , the wonderfully hospitable and charming people and of course Darjeeling Tea.
New Year’s eve is like every other night; there is no pause in the march of the universe, no breathless moment of silence among created things that the passage of another twelve months may be noted; and yet no man has quite the same thoughts this evening that come with the coming of darkness on other nights. ~Hamilton Wright Mabie
Ciggarette smoking has always been linked to a veriety of diseases and the list is neverending. It is rare that the manufacturers will ever come out and try to establish a preventive cure to the numerous abnormalities but the search for cure comes in many forms and now one of them being “Tea”.
“Two or more cups of tea a day reduced risk of cerebral infarction (a certain type of stroke) by 21 per cent in men who smoke according to a recent study.
Interestingly enough, it was a strange yet welcome topic discussed at the shareholders meeting of the Indian Hotels Company Limited which is known for managing the famous portfolio of The Taj Group of Hotels & resorts. A wasted blank page in the annual report and Indian Tea!! “Also at the meeting, a shareholder made a passionate plea for more Indian teas and fewer British varieties at various Taj hotel restaurants…” It is also important to note that Tea is also a major portfolio for the Tata Group (the parent) and this very plea is welcoming from the shareholders who are just voicing the presence of our very own Indian Tea from the origin. I am not sure if the “British varieties” do or do not include Indian Teas, but this very fact is quite noticeable if one is to stay in the upmarket hotels around India. So its abot time they all started serving our country’s pride. More on this article can be read @ www.nytimes.com
